![]() Slowly unlocking the world is a lot of fun, the NPC dialogue is really humorous and there's loads of cool power ups that do some pretty fascinating things. Golvellius - It can be a bit grindy at times but I actually think I like this game more than the Zeldas on the NES. Full of bright and colorful graphics, perfect controls and all the charm you'd want from a Mickey game. Easily the best platformer on the console. Land of Illusion - As others said this is a fantastic game. I only got into the Master System last year and I've been playing it a lot over the past several months. Too bad Empire Strikes Back was never released, one of my favorites on NES. Star Wars: Same as the NES version, only with better sounds and graphics. I already liked the look and feel but was ultimately sold on the look and tune of the Jungle level. Sonic The Hedgehog: This is my favorite Sonic game, I actually prefer it over the Mega Drive titles. Not sure why, but this is my favorite version of Lemmings. Lemmings: Played several versions of this game, this one always stood out for me. It feels like a step back from Land, but still looks/plays great and it has some very beautiful levels. Legend Of Illusion: Second favorite in the Master System Illusion series. Loved this game ever since I first played it. Cut-scenes, lots of characters, shorter but more (and more varied) levels, cool power-ups such as the shrinking ray and rope to climb walls (which both also allow you to replay and reach places in previously playels levels that you couldn't reach before). Jurassic Park: Mostly like this because of the driving scenes - and come on, it's Jurassic Park! I don't like the levels as much as I do in the others, they tend to go on too long for me. Love the addition of the actual Cave of Wonders level in which you meet the Carpet and have to avoid touching treasures.Ĭastle Of Illusion: My least favorite of the Illusion series on Master System, probably because nostalgia is not a factor for me. I died a little bit inside when I realized that the English Phantasy does not have FM Sound.Īladdin: Very nice addition to the Mega Drive version with nice graphics and cutscenes. You can hear Shinobi with FM Sound in the last video: Even though it's been done before I did my own PSG vs. I recently installed the FM Sound Unit into my Master System. Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap/Monster World II Out of that list, I'd say these are the FM games worth playing: I had to go through and click each page individually to make this list  Games that came out in the USA but had FM sound only on the Japanese version:Ĭaptain Silver (USA version has less levels, too) There are probably more games I am missing, but I'm sure others will list them. SEGA released the MD the same day that SMB 3 was released. There was zero Mark III support in Japan once the MD was released in 1988. ![]() I feel sorry for Japan because they only received a Game Gear version of Wonderboy III/Monster World II.Īs far as non Japanese games that had FM sound, it was only some 1988 games that were scrapped from being released in Japan due to the MDs arrival. Much like Doki Doki Panic/SMB2 non-Jp version)Īnd of course no SMS collection can be complete without Phantasy Star, Wonderboy, Wonderboy in Monster Land and the amazing Wonderboy III: The Dragons Trap. Mystic Warrior (I think that's right, the Eng version of Kujyaku Oh)Īlex Kidd in High-Tech World (one if my fav SMS games back in the day, can't remember if Anmitsu Hime has FM sound or not, the original game they used as a base. Golden Axe Warrior (awesome action RPG, loved it) The Mickey Mouse games from SEGA as well as Donald Duck a Lucky Dime Caper are also great. ![]() ![]() Psycho Fox! That game is still one of my all time favourites. Sonic 1 + Sonic 2 + Sonic Chaos (totally different to their MD counterparts)įantasy Zone + Fantasy Zone II + Fantasy Zone: The Mazeīubble Bobble, Rastan and all the other SMS games by TAITOĪshura aka Rambo: First Blood Part II aka Secret Command(o)Ī couple of hidden gems aka "crappy on MD, awesome on SMS!": Aladdin, Taz Mania, Jurassic Park, Batman Returns Alex Kidd in Miracle World + Alex Kidd in Shinobi WorldĬastle of Illusion + Land of Illusion + Legend of Illusion (all three are totally different to their MD equivalents)Īsterix + Asterix and the Secret Mission (both by Sega of Japan and of course totally different to the AWFUL Core Design games available for MD, only SMS Asterix to avoid: Asterix and the Great Rescue.
